To find the right width, the heart of the shoes (the knoted lace*) will be far enough from the feet skin, but you must not be able to put your auricular finger within.

*Lace :

To find the right length, do a demi plie*.
The heel must move along the foot.

However, whil you are standing en pointe, you must be able to pinch the rear of the shoe.
